Overhead: The state-approved route consists of 45 miles of overhead lines including the reinforcement of existing 345- and 115-kV lines between Haddam and Milford. New 345-kV overhead lines will begin at the switching station in Middletown and travel along the existing right of way to the site of a planned substation in Milford connecting to a planned switching station in Wallingford into Milford. Structures will include monopoles or H-frames, depending on the width of the right of way.

Under-street: The route consists of 24 miles of under-street lines beginning at a planned substation in Milford and traveling predominantly under the Boston Post Road (Route 1) connecting to the planned switching station in Bridgeport and into Norwalk using cross-linked polyethylene insulated cable (XLPE).
