Connecticut Siting Council Filing

On December 23, 2011, CL&P applied to the CSC for Certificates of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for the construction of the Connecticut portion of the Interstate Reliability Project.

The Interstate Reliability Project is a proposed 345-kV high-voltage transmission line that will strengthen the interstate transfer of electricity across Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and includes substation and switching station upgrades.

The project will span both CL&P and National Grid's service areas. The proposed CL&P route uses existing CL&P right-of-way beginning in Lebanon and continuing through Columbia, Coventry, Mansfield, Chaplin, Hampton, Brooklyn, Pomfret, Killingly, Putnam and Thompson, ending at the Connecticut/Rhode Island border. The route would then continue through National Grid's service areas in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, ending in Millbury, Massachusetts.

The filing consists of 11 volumes. Please note that volumes that contain photographs are quite large and may take a considerable amount of time to download if you are using a 28K or 56K modem.
