Connecticut Siting Council Filings

On October 9, 2003, The Connecticut Light & Power Company (CL&P) and The United Illuminating Company (UI) filed with the Connecticut Siting Council for a "Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for a 345-kV Electric Transmission Line Facility and Associated Facilities between Scovill Rock Switching Station in Middletown and Norwalk Substation in Norwalk." The filing consists of 12 volumes. Please note that volumes which contain photographs are quite large and may take a considerable amount of time to download if you are using a 28K or 56K modem.

Supplemental Filing

On December 16, 2003, The Connecticut Light & Power Company (CL&P) and The United Illuminating Company (UI) filed with the Connecticut Siting Council a Supplemental Filing pursuant to Section VIII (Q) of the Council's Application Guides for Terrestrial Electric Transmission Line Facilities dated September 9, 2003. Section VIII (Q) provides in pertinent part that "the Applicant(s) shall provide supplemental information for the Council to make a reasonable comparison between the Applicant(s) proposed route and any reasonable alternative route recommended by the site municipalities pursuant to C.G.S. section 16-501." Please note that this document may also take a considerable amount of time to download if you are using a 28K or 56K modem.

CL&P will submit 13 separate Development and Management (D&M) Plans to the Connecticut Siting Council. These detailed design plans are written in accordance with Siting Council regulations and are further defined in their Decision and Order for Docket No. 272, dated April 7, 2005.

Segment 2b: Approved, August 31, 2006 - Cheshire/Hamden town line to East Devon Substation (Hamden, Bethany, Woodbridge, West Haven, Orange and Milford)

Segment 3: Approved, March 29, 2006 - Underground: East Devon Substation to UI ownership point in Stratford (Milford, Stratford)

Segment 4a: Approved, February 24, 2006 - Underground: Singer Substation to Fairfield/Westport town line (Bridgeport and Fairfield)

Segment 4b: Approved, June 7, 2006 - Fairfield/Westport town line to Father Conlon Place, Norwalk (Westport and Norwalk)

Segment 4c: Approved May 2, 2007 - Underground: Father Conlon Place to Norwalk Substation (Norwalk)
