The Middletown-Norwalk Transmission Project
Middletown-Norwalk (M-N) Project is an important step toward meeting our customers' growing demand for electricity while solving one of the biggest threats to electric reliability in Connecticut, New England and the country.
This bottleneck to the electric transmission system in southwest Connecticut is an expensive reliability threat that must be resolved quickly. As time passes, the threat increases and the expense grows to burden customers in the state and region.
Placing M-N in service will save customers hundreds of millions of dollars in congestion charges and provide a secure source of reliable electricity for years to come.
After years of thorough research and planning, the Connecticut Siting Council unanimously approved the M-N Project as the most technically feasible, environmentally sound and cost-effective way to bring our state's electric transmission system up to current reliability standards. It will include the installation of new overhead and underground lines and the reconstruction of some existing lines along a 69-mile route through 18 cities and towns.
This website is intended to help you follow the progress of construction and understand the details of the M-N Project.
