Planning:

  • November 2001 to May 2003: Consultations with municipalities potentially affected by proposed route (nearly 50 in total)
  • May 2003: Regulatory review begins
  • Summer 2003: Open houses were held at 21 locations along the proposed route.
  • October 2003: Joint filing of Application to Connecticut Siting Council by CL&P/UI
  • October 2003: The project application was submitted to the Connecticut Siting Council.
  • October 2003 to April 2005: The Connecticut Siting Council held more than 35 public and evidentiary hearings for the project application.
  • April 7, 2005: Connecticut Siting Council approves project
  • April - October 2005: Consultations with municipalities and residents on proposed design (nearly 270 requests for information or design changes received)
  • May 2005: Detailed design begins

Construction Begins:

  • April 2006: Beseck Switching Station (Wallingford)
  • July 2006: Scovill Rock Switching Station (Middletown)
  • 3rd Quarter 2006: Scovill Rock Switching Station (Middletown)
  • 3rd Quarter 2006: Overhead, Segment 1 (Middletown, Haddam, Durham, Middlefield, Meriden, Wallingford)
