What's Being Built in Hamden

Note that the descriptions below are typical designs for your area and do not represent the specific structure design and height being constructed on the right of way on your property. For property-specific information, call our Project Hotline at 1-866-MID-NORW (643-6679). Detailed design plans can also be obtained from your town hall or from the Connecticut Siting Council.

Overhead Lines
The right of way (ROW) in Hamden is 165 feet wide and covers a distance of 3.7 miles. Today, there are three 115-kV overhead transmission structures on this ROW: two wood H-Frames and one steel lattice structure. The three existing structures are being removed and replaced with two new steel monopoles. The Connecticut Siting Council (CSC) decision calls for a delta monopole (typical height, 85 feet) for the new 345-kV line. The two 115-kV lines will reside on a double-circuit monopole (typical height, 80 feet).
