CL&P has completed construction of a new 115-kilovolt (kV) underground transmission line in Stamford, Conn. The Stamford Reliability Cable Project extends approximately 1.5 miles between two existing CL&P substations, the Glenbrook Substation on Lincoln Avenue and the South End Substation on Pacific Street.
This project is now improving the transmission system in the Stamford area so customers will have reliable electric power to meet their growing energy needs. It will also ensure that the areas electric grid conforms to national and regional reliability standards.

Stamford Reliability Cable Project Facts
On September 12, 2013, the Connecticut Siting Council (CSC) issued its Decision and Order (D&O) approving CL&Ps application to construct the Stamford Reliability Cable Project.

Development and Management (D&M) Plan Overview and Background
As the next step in the Connecticut siting process, CL&P prepared the required construction plan, called the Development and Management (D&M) Plan, for the Stamford Reliability Cable Project. The D&M Plan, approved by the CSC on December 12, 2013, is a detailed construction document. It includes, among other information, the location of the underground transmission line; soil handling plan; erosion and sediment control plan; and details of the duct bank and splice vault installation.
