CL&P has energized a new 115-kilovolt (kV)/27-kV bulk power substation in Waterford, Connecticut. This substation will supply the growing load in the town of Waterford and will increase the reliability of the local electrical supply in the area. Please note that some construction will continue in 2010.

Operating voltage:115,000/27,000 volts (115/27-kV)
Regulatory review by: The Connecticut Siting Council


Timetable:
  • Connecticut Siting Council application filed - June 2008
  • Connecticut Siting Council public hearing - September 23, 2008
  • Connecticut Siting Council approved the project - November 2008
  • Development and Management plan approved by Connecticut Siting Council - February 2009
  • Construction started in March 2009
  • Substation energized - April 2010
