CL&P is constructing a new 115-kilovolt (kV)/27-kV bulk power substation in Waterford, Connecticut. This substation will supply the growing load in the town of Waterford and will increase the reliability of the local electrical supply in the area.

Location:325 Waterford Parkway North, Waterford, Connecticut
Operating voltage:115,000/27,000 volts (115/27-kV)
Regulatory review by: The Connecticut Siting Council and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection
Timetable:
  • Connecticut Siting Council application filed - June 2008
  • Connecticut Siting Council public hearing - September 23, 2008
  • Connecticut Siting Council approved the project - November 2008
  • Development and Management plan approved by Connecticut Siting Council - February 2009
  • Construction started in March 2009
    • Civil work in progress.
  • Construction completed and facility in service in mid-2010
