CL&P is proposing a new 115-kilovolt (kV)/27-kV bulk power substation in Waterford, Connecticut. This substation will supply the growing load in the town of Waterford and will increase the reliability of the local electrical supply in the area.

Location:325 Waterford Parkway North, Waterford, Connecticut
Operating voltage:115,000/27,000 volts (115/27-kV)
Cost: Estimated $11.8 million
Regulatory review by: The Connecticut Siting Council and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection
Timetable:
  • Municipal consultation filing, spring 2008
  • Connecticut Siting Council application review starting mid-2008
  • Construction to start in early 2009
  • Construction completed and facility in service in mid-2010
